Sean Reusch, a third-generation trombonist and educator, is highly sought-after throughout Southern California and beyond. He is currently a member of the Nittany Trombone Quartet and the Millennia Consort. Sean has enjoyed a diverse performing career including solo, chamber, orchestral, studio, commercial, musical theater, and jazz engagements. He was a founding member of the internationally touring brass quintet , Presidio Brass, for seven years and has performed with the San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Redlands Symphony and Pacific Symphony to name a few. He has also performed with top artists like Placido Domingo, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Mathis, David Sanborn and Bernadette Peters among others.  Sean has also been heard in professional productions of Wicked, Aladdin, The Book of Mormon, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Motown, Sound of Music, Pippin, Kinky Boots, The Heart of Rock and Roll,

and many more. Additionally, Sean has had the pleasure of performing for two US presidents.

As an educator, Sean believes it’s important to inspire students to be the best they can be in whatever they choose. He wants his students to see the value of always being willing to learn. As a result, he actively works hard to keep his website full of information for trombonists, www.trombone101.com. He currently has a large private studio around San Diego county. He has previously been on faculty at the University of California-San Diego, San Diego State University, Palomar College, Point Loma Nazarene University, and the Idyllwild Arts Academy.  

When Sean isn’t teaching locally, he travels and gives masterclasses. He presented master classes at Louisiana State University, Penn State University, Point Loma Nazarene University, St. Norbert College, San Diego State University, University of California Los Angeles, University of California Santa Barbara, University of Delaware, and University of Southern Mississippi.  Many of his students have gone on to study music at prestigious colleges and conservatories around the US and now perform in symphony orchestras, jazz groups, military bands, and rock bands. Many also work as middle school and high school band directors, college trombone professors, private trombone instructors, composers, or music copyists. 

As a SHIRES Artist, Sean was faculty at the International Trombone Association Youth Workshop at the University of Redlands in 2017, Ball State University in 2019, and at the Columbus State University in 2021. Sean is the author of seven books: Trombone Essentials , Folk Songs In All Keys, The Daily Routine Song Book for Trombone., Patriotic Songs In All Keys, Bordogni 7, Songs In All Keys, and Hymn Tunes in All Keys .

​Sean began his studies in trombone with Tom Hutchinson, Sr, and then pursued his undergraduate studies at Penn State University where he received his BA in Psychology while minoring in music in the studio of Mark Lusk. He continued his studies at the Manhattan School of Music, where he earned an MM in Performance studying with Hal Janks, and worked on his doctoral studies at UCLA where he studied with Bill Booth.  

Sean currently resides in Carlsbad, California with his wife Bridget, their two children Miles and Ruby, golden retriever Abby, two cats Shadow and Ivy, and 13 chickens. In his spare time, Sean loves to spend time at the beach, is an avid gardener, and enjoys dabbling in woodworking when the opportunity arises.
